The San Francisco Black Film Festival (SFBFF) extends its warm congratulations to James Farr, esteemed alum and award-winning journalist, on his upcoming moderating role in the live-streamed interview with presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West and vice- presidential candidate Dr. Melina Abdullah. Scheduled for June 21, 2024, this significant event will now take place online via YouTube, expanding its reach to a nationwide audience.
James Farr, a recipient of the prestigious 2022 Jeff Adachi Social Justice Award, has continually demonstrated a commitment to social justice through his impactful documentary work, including "Zinzun: A Revolutionary Activist," with Director Dennis Haywood, a subject of a panel discussion in the 2022 Durban International Film Festival, a partner of the San Francisco Black Film Festival. Farr's dedication to amplifying diverse voices and advocating for justice aligns closely with the mission of the San Francisco Black Film Festival.

Farr, alongside the 2024 San Francisco Black Film Festival Jeff Adachi Social Justice Award recipient Mario Van Peebles, who screened three socially relevant films—"Outlaw Posse," "Panther," and "Armed"—along with multi-talented musician D'Wayne Wiggins and Edward La Borde Jr., who presented their film "Timeless" set in the Virgin Islands, joined over 75 filmmakers in successfully launching the festival into its second quarter-century. Their efforts, combined with the '$25toThrive' Campaign, a rallying call for public support, ensure the empowerment and resilience of SFBFF for years to come.
Cree Ray, Director of the San Francisco Black Film Festival, gave accolades for Farr's achievements and emphasized the festival's support for his ongoing contributions to media and social discourse:
"As an alum of the San Francisco Black Film Festival, James Farr has consistently exemplified excellence and integrity in his journalistic endeavors. We congratulate him on this significant opportunity to engage with Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Melina Abdullah, further highlighting his commitment to fostering dialogue on critical social issues. His participation in this forum underscores the impact of his work and its alignment with our festival's values of inclusion and advocacy."
