LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Simon Veterinary Surgical is proud to announce its most recent certification as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
As a woman in a challenging field, Dr. Patricia Simon DVM, MPH, DACVPM, owner and founder of Simon Veterinary Surgical, believes that completing the meticulous process of becoming a WBENC-Certified Women's Business Enterprise is an essential step towards paving the way for future women as leaders in veterinarian medicine.
Dr. Simon explains, "it's well known that practicing veterinary medicine can be emotionally taxing. But in addition to that, I found that the majority of my advisors throughout my career were male; I had very few women mentors that I could lean on for support."
"Becoming a certified women-owned business is just one way that I hope to inspire future women veterinarians," says Dr. Simon. "I wish to be the mentor for young women that I never had."

Sure enough, Dr. Simon has already gathered a few young mentees under her wing, fostering their curiosity and guiding them through their educational journey towards veterinary medicine.
Dr. Simon added, "as girls, we were always told to be quiet and modest; that we shouldn't be too proud. It's time to correct that. Pride is a celebration and I'm very proud of my business. Gaining this certification memorializes how far I've come."
