MURRIETA, Calif. - Californer -- Murrieta, CA — Crane Books is proud to announce the release of SKIP, SKIP, Hooray!, a heartwarming new children's book that introduces readers to Scottie, the S.K.I.P. Superstar—and the inspiring real-life educator behind the movement, Julia Peralta.
If kindness could skip, dance, and wag its tail, it would look just like Scottie. In SKIP, SKIP, Hooray!, Scottie leads children on a joyful journey through everyday moments, reminding them that kindness isn't complicated—it's something you do, in person, every day.
Julia Peralta is a retired teacher who spent 34 years inspiring students to learn with creativity, courage, and compassion. Drawing from her rich background as a former NFL Cheerleader, dance coach, and children's book author, Julia infuses her storytelling with rhythm, teamwork, movement, and joy—elements that naturally resonate with young readers.
She is also the creator of S.K.I.P. (Show Kindness In Person), a growing movement that encourages children, schools, and families to make kindness a daily adventure rather than a one-time act. Through Scottie's playful energy and positive example, Julia reminds readers to S.K.I.P. their way through every day—choosing empathy, action, and connection.
