DETAILS:
The program includes Benjamin Britten's "Soirées Musicales", (Musical Evenings), Op. 9, a suite of five movements for orchestra by Benjamin Britten, using music composed by Gioachino Rossini.
We are featuring Harpist Ellie Choate in the beautiful "Concerto de Aranjuez" by Joaquín Rodrigo (We will be performing the composer's own version for Harp and orchestra). In this work, written in 1939, Joaquín Rodrigo made allusions to the beauty of the extensive Baroque gardens of the Palacio Real de Aranjuez, the historical summer residence of the Spanish royal family.
AND - for the pièce de résistance, we are thrilled to be presenting John Rutter's exuberant "Gloria" with our wonderful Southland Symphony Chorus.
Special note - Dr. Mann will also be conducting the Rutter "Gloria" and the "Te Deum" at Carnegie Hall in New York in the Spring of 2025, by special engagement with Mid-America productions. Our chorus will be the core chorus, and we are inviting singers from the community to join us - visit our website for more info. (https://.southlandsymphony.com)
