Company builds momentum as affordable housing proves key to solving homelessness and creating safer, cleaner streets in San Jose
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Californer -- SWENSON, one of Northern California's premier real estate development firms, has been awarded the California Low-Income Housing Tax Credit following a competitive statewide process with more than 160 applicants. This award will support the development of one of several new affordable housing communities SWENSON is spearheading in San Jose — a key step toward addressing the region's housing crisis.
With five affordable communities in the pipeline, SWENSON is playing a pivotal role in building a better future for San Jose, where affordable housing is a leading solution to homelessness and public safety concerns. In a city where too many residents are priced out of stable housing, these developments will provide essential opportunities for individuals and families to live with security, and access to resources.

"We are deeply grateful to be awarded this allocation by the State," said Case Swenson, President and CEO of SWENSON. "San Jose is our home, and this recognition allows us to continue doing what we care about most: helping build a stronger, more supportive community. Affordable housing is more than construction; it's about job growth, stability, and giving back to the city we love."
The award will support the Berryessa Family Apartments, a 260-unit development located near the Berryessa BART station. This is just one part of the company's broader commitment to expanding access to housing in San Jose and Silicon Valley
"Every unit of housing we build helps us address the cost-of-living crisis that affects each of us — from working families to new graduates and everyone in between," said San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. "This award is a huge win for San Jose, and I'm grateful to SWENSON for continuing to step up and lead on housing solutions that work."
