~ SACRAMENTO - As the July 1 deadline approached, Republicans had been warning for the past six months that gas prices would see a sharp increase of 65 cents at the pump. However, as the day arrived, it became clear that these fears were unfounded.
According to AAA, gas prices in California are actually cheaper than they were yesterday, on Monday (June 30), a week ago, a month ago, and even a year ago. This information directly contradicts the claims made by Republicans and proves that there has been no significant increase in gas prices.
This news comes as California records its second-lowest homicide rate since 1966. Governor Newsom's promise of investing in public safety has shown positive results with lower crime rates in 2024. This is a testament to the state's efforts to ensure safety in communities statewide.

In another development, after weeks of pressure from Governor Newsom, President Trump has finally allowed California's wildfire crews to return to the frontlines. However, nearly 5,000 soldiers, including members of the California National Guard, remain sidelined in Los Angeles due to Trump's militarization of the city.
Governor Newsom has also challenged President Trump to adopt a model executive order that would help "Make America Rake Again." This order would require proper management and resources for wildfire prevention and control. While California has invested billions of dollars and treated millions of acres to reduce wildfire risk, the Trump administration continues to cut resources and neglect its responsibility.
As Californians continue to face challenges such as rising gas prices and wildfires, it is reassuring to see that their government is taking proactive measures to address these issues. With investments in public safety and efforts towards reducing wildfire risk, Governor Newsom is delivering on his promises for a safer California.
