A heartfelt welcome to the future readers of the debut society platform.
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- As the platform prepares to launch, Editor-in-Chief Tanya Sattineni shares a message that speaks to the heart of what The Ambony stands for. Her Editor's Letter offers insight into how cultural nuance and a sense of belonging are driving forces behind the publication's editorial direction.
When I moved to the United States at 17, I remember feeling unmistakably "Other." It wasn't always in big, obvious ways—it was in the small things. Not knowing how to respond to casual small talk, being confused by the dress code at a backyard barbecue, or realizing I had no idea what an Arnold Palmer was. However, it was in navigating these niche necessities that I discovered my own identity and likeness.
When I was approached for the role of Editor-In-Chief of The Ambony, I saw an opportunity to build a digital society magazine that catered to the niche necessities of all our readers. To provide a space for all the "Others" amongst us to understand their purpose better. A place where one could ask the question: Does this outfit say what I feel? Does this book align with my beliefs? What can I cook to make my friends feel seen?

And that is exactly what The Ambony is doing. One of our greatest strengths is that our journalists are representative of our readers. They come from different regions and specialties, and are constantly questioning the whats, whys, and hows around us.
I hope readers who come to The Ambony looking for answers—or simply something to read—get a little more than that. I hope they go away reassured but curious. Informed but still open. In the months to come, you will see our content for what it is—bold, intellectual, and innovative, much like its readers.
So wherever it is you are joining us from, be it during a lunch break at your work desk, in the middle of a lengthy meeting, or simply in the back of a rideshare, we welcome you and all the "Others" like you to our space. We hope you enjoy reading it just as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
