~ The Pala Band of Mission Indians, in collaboration with local leaders, held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for the highly anticipated Pala Super Mart & Fuel Station. This major development project aims to provide essential goods, fuel, and services to both local residents and travelers while also advancing the Tribe's long-term economic development goals.

The Pala Super Mart & Fuel Station is strategically located on Highway 76, a key corridor connecting inland San Diego to the coast. It is designed to be a modern and comprehensive retail destination, offering more than just a typical roadside stop. The facility will feature a grocery market, specialty coffee bar, full-service deli, EV charging stations, 24/7 fueling, and a state-of-the-art car and RV wash. The project is expected to create over 35 new jobs in the local community.

Pala Tribal Chairman Robert Smith expressed his excitement for this new development and its potential impact on the region. "This is an important step towards achieving our vision of long-term economic sustainability for the Tribe," said Chairman Smith. "The Pala Super Mart & Fuel Station will not only bring fresh food and quality services to the area but also demonstrates our commitment to infrastructure, job creation, and community well-being for both our Tribal members and neighbors."

Set to open in 2026, the Pala Super Mart & Fuel Station will offer various features such as a 12,000-square-foot grocery market with fresh produce and household essentials for both locals and travelers. It will also have a specialty coffee bar serving premium beverages and a full-service deli offering made-to-order sandwiches and other food options with indoor and outdoor seating.

In addition to these amenities, the facility will have 20 standard fuel pumps, eight oversized fuel dispensers for larger vehicles like motorhomes and trucks, as well as EV fast charging stations. It will also include car and RV wash facilities with touchless car wash options.

Future plans for the site include a nationally branded quick-service restaurant, which will be announced at a later date.
