BAY AREA, Calif. - Californer -- On March 26, 2024 at 5:30 pm (Pacific Time), Silicon Private Wealth Managing Director, Peter Coe Verbica, will interview Esther "Woj" Wojcicki, a California Teacher of the Year, "godmother of Silicon Valley," and author of the best-selling book, How to Raise Successful People. If you teach, parent, create or lead, chances are you will find practical suggestions on how to have a positive influence on those about whom you care. Ms. Wojcicki teaches how to start with the small and end with the big.
Author, educator and uber-mom, Esther "Woj" Wojcicki has a most unusual super-power; it's not lifting a car over her head with one hand, using laser vision to cut through steel, or running a mile in microseconds. Her super-power is attentive listening and her ears, while they appear ordinary, have highly evolved to those of a master detective. It is through listening that she solves a most difficult riddle, determining the ultimate potential of a student; she hears the heartbeats of hope. She slows down the busy and makes room for the stillness.
The other mystery she has mastered is not how to take the sting out of an ugly bellyflop; instead, she has unlocked the combination of how to get students back up the ladder and dive into the pool of life once more. As founder of the Palo Alto High School Media Arts Program, Ms. Wojcicki is an unabashed champion of literacy and learning; she knows better than most that it is not failing, but rather the fear of failing which holds back achievement. What sets her apart from the rote-and-ruler approach of traditional academics is her epic mastery of compassionate and effective encouragement. Waves of appreciative graduates and Ms. Wojcicki's three wildly talented daughters are living testaments that her unorthodox approach to resilience works -- even at home.
