ALBANY, Calif. - Californer -- Alten Construction (https://www.altenconstruction.com/), a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, recently celebrated the completion of its Marin Elementary School (https://marin.ausdk12.org/) project by donating more than 600 t-shirts to the school's students.
On Wednesday, Sept. 6, Alten Construction was invited to Marin Elementary School's monthly Marin Morning event. During the gathering, students and parents heard from the elementary school's principal, as well as from teachers, and students and faculty were wearing the donated t-shirts from Alten Construction.
The $30 million project launched in 2021 and included two large new two-story classroom buildings and a full retrofit to the existing administration, library and multi-use building. Sitework and an overhaul to the playground was also completed. The reconfigured playground improved visibility across the entire yard and now offers students an additional 11,000 square feet of play area, including a multi-featured play structure. An added playground feature includes a bright yellow entrance slide, allowing arriving students to slide from the east gate down to the playground, instead of using the ramp or the staircase.

The campus also received major technology updates. All classrooms now have new audio-visual systems, including projectors, screens and speakers, alongside new fire and life safety systems, security systems and more. The building is on-track for Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) verification, meaning it was built to high standards of sustainability, creating climate-conscious, healthy learning environments. State-of-the-art energy management, acoustics, lighting and ventilation, along with earth-friendly choices for interior finishes and furnishings, make Marin Elementary School a notable 21st century school.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last month to commemorate the completed project as it reopened for the 2023-24 school year.
Located at 1001 Santa Fe Avenue in Albany, Marin Elementary School is part of the Albany Unified School District (AUSD) with a mission to provide excellent public education that empowers all to achieve their fullest potential as productive citizens.
