California Visual Artist Teams Up with Alzheimer's Association and Alzheimer's Los Angeles During Pandemic to Ensure Those Who Forget Are Not Forgotten

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Californer -- In honor of World Alzheimer's Day, renowned visual artist Bernard "BerniE" Edmonds has collaborated with the Alzheimer's Association and Alzheimer's Los Angeles to present a debut song, an art collection and a music video entitled "I Care."

In completing the seven-piece body of art, BerniE seeks to bring awareness to the public about Alzheimer's and to raise funding for research and caregiver support. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the music and art of the I Care Collection benefits the Alzheimer's Association.

While BerniE's artwork has been seen on TV sitcoms like "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and "The Jamie Foxx Show" and he has created pieces for celebrities like Magic Johnson and Oprah Winfrey, it is this I Care collection and endeavor he is most passionate about. It is a tribute to his mother who succumbed to Alzheimer's in 2019.

More on The Californer
More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, which is the sixth leading cause of death in the United State. According to the Association and senior advocates, since the COVID-19 pandemic, many Alzheimer's patients have experienced cognitive decline.

At a time when COVID-19 is at the forefront of public concern and many are focused on the devastating effects of the pandemic, BerniE is encouraging others to show care and compassion for a vulnerable population.

"My aim is to bring attention back to the patients and their families to let them know that they are not forgotten, even in the midst of this COVID-19 crisis," said BerniE. "Some of the most important people in the lives of Alzheimer's patients are caregivers."

More than a catchy lyric, I Care is a creative initiative that the Alzheimer's Association is happy to support.

"I was impressed with the uniqueness of his artwork and how the song symbolizes Alzheimer's Awareness. The art truly moved me," said Krystle Joseph, MBA, Manager of Walk to End Alzheimer's (IE), Alzheimer's Association, California Southland.
