VENTURA, Calif. - Californer -- Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC) is proud to join nearly 250 organizations nationwide in celebrating NeighborWorks Week, June 7-14, 2025. This annual event, organized by NeighborWorks America, highlights the collective efforts of organizations and residents working together to create opportunity, strengthen neighborhoods, and build a better future for all.
NeighborWorks America, chartered by Congress in 1978, has supported communities for more than 46 years by providing grants, training, and partnerships that foster safe, affordable housing and promote community well-being. In fiscal year 2024 alone, the NeighborWorks network delivered $11.2 billion in total investment, served over 431,000 individuals and families with housing and counseling services, and helped create or preserve tens of thousands of homes and jobs nationwide.
NeighborWorks Week 2025's theme, "Creating Homes, Building America," perfectly reflects Cabrillo EDC's belief that investing in housing means investing in people-and when people thrive, communities thrive.
"As we celebrate NeighborWorks Week, we are reminded that the heart of our mission is empowering people and strengthening neighborhoods," said Victoria Brady, CEO of Cabrillo EDC. "Our collaboration with NeighborWorks America and local partners allows us to deliver more than just housing – we provide opportunities for growth, resilience, and hope. This year's theme, 'Creating Homes, Building America,' truly captures our vision for Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. I am proud to stand alongside our residents, staff, and partners as we continue building communities where everyone has the chance to thrive."

This year, Cabrillo EDC will host two resident resource fairs designed to bring vital services directly to the communities it serves. The first fair, hosted in Ventura, will offer a fun and informative atmosphere for residents to connect with local organizations providing resources for seniors, farmworkers, and families. The second fair, branded as a "Coffee and Connect" event in Santa Paula, will welcome residents and neighboring Cabrillo EDC communities. Residents will enjoy a warm cup of coffee while engaging with representatives from up to 10 community organizations offering valuable services and successful partnerships. By gathering residents, partners, and community leaders, these events will strengthen neighborhood connections and reaffirm Cabrillo EDC's commitment to building inclusive, sustainable communities.
