Governor Newsom announces appointments
SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:
Andrew "Dru" Alejandre, of Corning, has been appointed Executive Secretary of the California Native American Heritage Commission. Alejandre has been Tribal Liaison at Emic Health Services since 2024 and Co-Founder and Vice President of the Tribal Leadership Council since 2024. He was the Chairman of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians from 2016 to 2025, and Council Secretary from 2014 to 2016. Alejandre is the Board Chair of Tepa Companies and the Tribal Leadership Council Foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $152,064. Alejandre is a Democrat.
Matthew Notley, of Sacramento, has been appointed Deputy Director of Crisis Communications at the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services. Notley has been Owner at Notley Communications since 2025. He was Senior Vice President at Edelman from 2014 to 2025. He was Senior Account Manager at Perry Communications Group from 2013 to 2014. Jue has been a Recruitment Manager in the Recruitment and Exams Section at the Department of General Services since 2025. She was an Outreach and Recruitment Analyst in the Talent Acquisitions and Executive Recruitment Section at the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration from 2024 to 2025. Jue was an Associate Governmental Program Analyst in the Office of Employee Wellness at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2020 to 2024. She held several roles at the Correctional Training Center – Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development from 2016 to 2020, including Office Technician in the Captain's Office, Office Technician in the Examinations Unit, and Office Technician for the Commission on Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training.
