According to the press release issued by the Governor's office, the sale, transport, or use of fireworks without the "Office of the State Fire Marshal Safe and Sane" seal is strictly prohibited. This also includes possessing or using any fireworks in communities where they are not allowed. Those who violate these laws could face fines up to $50,000 and a year in jail.

He stated, "Our message is clear: illegal fireworks won't be tolerated, and you will be prosecuted." He also warned that using illegal fireworks during peak fire season could potentially start dangerous fires.
In efforts to crack down on illegal fireworks, CAL FIRE - Office of the State Fire Marshal's specialized Arson and Bomb Investigators have been working closely with local and federal authorities. Last year alone, officials seized 288,000 pounds of illegal fireworks. The average amount seized per year over the past decade is about 240,000 pounds.
