California, NVIDIA launch first-of-its-kind AI collaboration
What you need to know: New state initiative with NVIDIA kick-starts efforts to expand artificial intelligence (AI) tools and resources so students, educators, and workers – especially in community colleges – can learn new skills and advance their careers.
SANTA CLARA — California is partnering with NVIDIA on a new initiative to collaborate on cutting-edge AI efforts and provide our students, educators, and workers with unprecedented access to this transformative technology.
The initiative, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom and NVIDIA founder & CEO Jensen Huang, aims to:
Among other goals, it strives to bring new AI resources into community colleges from NVIDIA – including curriculum and certifications, hardware and software, AI labs and workshops, and more – to open new pathways for students, educators and workers to learn new skills and advance their careers.
California's world-leading companies are pioneering AI breakthroughs, and it's essential that we create more opportunities for Californians to get the skills to utilize this technology and advance their careers. We're teaming up with NVIDIA to connect AI tools directly to students, educators, and workers – creating a pipeline to drive the innovations of the future.
Governor Gavin Newsom
This initiative builds off of Governor Newsom's executive order, which called for the state to utilize AI to best serve Californians. Just this year, the state unveiled a state worker training program, held a GenAI summit, issued a GenAI toolkit for state procurement, launched pilot projects to explore how GenAI could help address challenges like traffic congestion and language accessibility, and more.
