NAPA COUNTY – Tomorrow, Governor Gavin Newsom will visit firefighters to highlight the state's unprecedented investments in wildfire prevention and resilience, speaking to firefighting agencies' work this season protecting Californians, and what conditions look like going forward. The Governor will highlight this work while also reminding Californians that wildfire season is year-round, as evidenced by the current Red Flag weather conditions in Southern California.
Since taking office, Governor Newsom and the Legislature has made unprecedented investments in California's fight to protect people from devastating wildfires, increasing the budget $2.8 billion and bolstering the state's aerial fleet to hit fires early. It has also resulted in more work going into wildfire prevention, with CAL FIRE exceeding its 100,000 acres treated goal years ahead of schedule and launching 552 wildfire resilience projects in less than a year.
