More than 148 original oil paintings created in real time document contemporary history as it unfolds. Where History Lives.
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- As America celebrates its 250th Anniversary, artist Cynthia Warden, known professionally as The Real Time Artist (TRTA), launches Chronicle of an Unquiet Age, an online historical archive documenting political, cultural, economic, and global events through 148 original oil paintings created in real time.
What began as a single painting in January 2020 evolved into a living historical archive. Rather than recreating history years later with the benefit of hindsight, every painting is researched and completed while the events themselves are still unfolding.
Throughout history there have been those who sought to document their time through art and words. One of Warden's earliest inspirations was King Alfred the Great, who commissioned artists and scribes to record the defining events of his campaign to unite England against the Danes. Chronicle of an Unquiet Age continues that tradition by documenting the defining events of our own time—in real time.

After more than six years of painting history as it unfolds, it feels especially fitting that Chronicle of an Unquiet Age makes its public debut during America's 250th Anniversary Year. Displayed side by side today, the collection stretches beyond the length of a football field, creating a visual timeline of a nation—and a world—in transition.
Drawing on a background in communications and public relations, Warden brings a storyteller's eye to every painting. History, symbolism, hidden imagery, political color cues, pop culture references, and a wicked sense of humor reward viewers who slow down, look closer, and discover something new.
"I wasn't trying to create a historical archive. One painting became another until the Chronicle had a life of its own. I don't paint headlines—I paint snapshots in time," says Warden.
Chronicle of an Unquiet Age now spans more than six years of contemporary history and continues to evolve with each passing news cycle. Warden welcomes those who share its vision to contact her and become part of its continued growth through ideas, opportunities, and connections that help shape its long-term legacy.
