City of Long Beach Facilities and Services Schedule for Independence Day

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day on Friday, July 4, 2025, the City of Long Beach has announced its schedule for city facilities and services. The city is encouraging residents and visitors to celebrate safely this Fourth of July and throughout the summer season.

In order to ensure the enjoyment, safety, and well-being of all individuals, the use of personal fireworks within Long Beach city limits is strictly prohibited. This includes sparklers and those labeled as "safe and sane." Instead, the city is encouraging people to attend one of Long Beach's professional fireworks shows. These will take place on Thursday, July 3 at 9 p.m. overlooking the Alamitos Bay Marina and on Friday, July 4 at 9 p.m. along the Downtown waterfront. There are also many other professional fireworks shows happening throughout the region.

On Friday, July 4, several city facilities will remain open for public use. These include all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center), El Dorado Regional Park, fire stations and lifeguard stations, Long Beach Airport, Main Police Station Front Desk, marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina), Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) for emergency calls, and Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) for emergency calls.

However, there are also several closures in effect on Friday in observance of Independence Day. These include Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries (digital resources are available 24/7), BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ), Building and Safety services including Permit Center services and inspections/plan reviews, City Hall offices including commercial services such as Permit Center (located on 2nd floor), Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service/Billing/Collections/Parking Citations.

Other closures include City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Economic Development Department's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers, Energy Resources Offices, Fire Headquarters/Support Services/Fire Prevention & Operations including Marine Safety Administration, Health Department and Health facilities, Homeless Services Outreach Line (562.570.4672), Housing Authority, LB Resource Hotline (562.570.4246), Long Beach Airport Administration Offices, Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA (regularly closed Mondays and Tuesdays), Long Beach Utilities Offices, Mobile Access Centers, Neighborhood Resource Center, Parks/Recreation/Marine programs and community park facilities.

Additionally, the following services will also be closed on Friday: Public Health Information Line (562.570.7907), Refuse and Recycling Administrative Offices, Special Events and Filming Offices, Street sweeping services will not be scheduled or enforced on Friday but will resume on Monday as per usual.

Parking enforcement will still be in effect on Friday unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.

Refuse and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on Friday.

The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will also be closed on Friday. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays. Vehicles and property can be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.

All Long Beach Public Library locations and services will also be closed on Friday in observance of Independence Day. However, library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's digital resources such as the catalog, downloads, and databases which are available 24/7.
