Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The Long Beach Marathon, a highly anticipated event in the running community, is set to make its return for its 41st year on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025. The weekend of events will kick off on Friday, Oct. 3 and is expected to draw in a large crowd of participants and spectators.
As the city prepares for this exciting event, residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead and take note of street closures and detours. With road closures and traffic delays expected throughout the day, it is recommended to allow extra time for travel.
According to officials, most road closures will be in effect between 4:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 5, with some exceptions noted below. These closures will affect both sides of the street unless otherwise specified.
The following streets will be impacted by the marathon:
- Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Shoreline Village Drive to Ocean Boulevard (closure begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4)
- Westbound Shoreline Drive from Ocean Boulevard to Shoreline Village Drive (closure begins at midnight on Saturday night)
- Shoreline Drive from Shoreline Village to the 710 Freeway

- Ocean Boulevard from Livingston Drive to Alamitos Avenue
All roads are expected to be fully reopened by 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, "no parking" signs will be posted along the racecourse. Vehicles found in violation of these signs will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense to the tow yard located at 3111 E. Willow St.
For residents living in the impacted neighborhoods of Belmont Shore, the Peninsula, Naples, Belmont Heights, Bluff Park, Bluff Heights, Alamitos Beach, Park Estates and Los Altos, a map and details on entering and exiting these areas can be found on the event's website.
In order to accommodate for the influx of visitors during this time, free parking will be available for Belmont Shore, Peninsula and Naples residents in beach lots along Ocean Boulevard on Saturday night through Sunday. Additionally, select areas may have limited access on Sunday during the marathon with police escort. Boat owners who park at Marina Green on Saturday will still have access via Shoreline Village Drive. On Sunday, boat owners can park at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center via Pine Avenue.
Participants and supporters can find specific details regarding day-of parking, runner drop off and race start location on the Long Beach Marathon website.
