~ SACRAMENTO - In a recent announcement, Governor Gavin Newsom revealed his latest appointments to various positions within the state government. These appointments include Jeannie Romas as General Counsel at the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Elizabeth Williamson as Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of General Services, and Kathleen Ratliff as Associate Director, Region II of the Division of Adult Institutions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Jeannie Romas, a resident of Wilmette, Illinois, brings a wealth of experience to her new role as General Counsel. She has been serving as the Director of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit at the Cook County Sheriff's Office since 2022 and previously held positions at the Chicago Housing Authority and Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. Romas holds a Juris Doctorate degree from McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University.

Elizabeth Williamson, from Walnut Grove, has been appointed as Chief Deputy Director at the California Department of General Services. She has been working in various roles within state government since 2012, including Deputy Secretary for Strategic Initiatives and Deputy Secretary for External Affairs at The California National Resources Agency. Williamson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from California State University, Sacramento.

Kathleen Ratliff, a resident of Stockton, will be taking on the role of Associate Director for Region II at the Division of Adult Institutions within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. With over 18 years in various positions within the department, Ratliff brings extensive knowledge and experience to her new position. She holds a Correctional Officer certification from the California Institution for Women.

These appointments do not require Senate confirmation and come with salaries ranging from $209,292 to $218,004. All three appointees are Democrats.
