Dr. Clarke Filippi, a board-certified periodontist, has begun his 25th year in practice in Modesto, CA. Dr. Filippi provides treatment for periodontal (gum) disease and places dental implants using the latest technology.
MODESTO, Calif. - Californer -- Dr. Clarke Filippi, a board-certified periodontist in Modesto, CA, has started his 25th year in private practice. Dr. Filippi's practice is dedicated to excellence in periodontics and dental implants.
"Periodontists are dentists who specialize in diagnosing and treating gum disease and placing dental implants," Dr. Filippi explained. "We focus on preventing, diagnosing, and treating periodontal disease. Our first priority is saving teeth. When teeth cannot be saved or when teeth are missing, we replace them with dental implants. We can replace one tooth, several teeth, or an entire arch of teeth," he added.
Patients who seek Dr. Filippi's services due to a failing dentition leave his office on the day of dental implant treatment with a fixed temporary denture, so they do not have to be without teeth. The patient's dentist subsequently places a final restoration that looks and functions like natural teeth. "Due to our professional collaboration, patients get the best of both worlds—they benefit from the expertise of the periodontist and the restorative dentist," Dr. Filippi said.

Dr. Filippi noted that he could not have imagined a quarter century ago that he would be using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to plan cases today. "Over the years our office has been on the leading edge of dental imaging and computer technology," Dr. Filippi said. "We plan dental implant cases using the latest software to make treatment more predictable."
Dr. Filippi is the only surgical specialist in Modesto, CA who creates a surgical guide for most dental implant cases. "We have a 3D printer in our office that we use to fabricate surgical guides. This technology allows me, as a surgeon, to know precisely where to place dental implants, which leads to better outcomes."
Asked to reflect on his years in practice, Dr. Filippi said, "I didn't realize when I opened my office in September 2001 how connected I would feel to my patients and the community. I still have some patients who have been with me from my early days in practice, and I always enjoy catching up with them when they come in."

Looking ahead, Dr. Filippi said, "We have an outstanding team who are committed to taking great care of patients," he said. "That part of the practice will not change. Another aspect of the practice that will stay the same is our dedication to lifelong learning through continuing dental education courses and professional conferences." He added, "With that foundation, we are ready to implement new diagnostic and treatment protocols as they become available."
