FULLERTON, Calif. - Californer -- Dr. Dallas Stout has agreed to join Orange County 4-H's Teen Council as one of 3 adult Advisors. OC 4-H Teen Council members (ages 13-19) develop leadership skills, advise on youth education programs, complete service projects as well as community education and social activities. The Council offers a fun way for teens to meet new people, boost their resume, build their leadership skills, and get involved in their community. Teen Council members facilitate their own meetings and are led by adult Advisors like Dr. Stout, who help plan, guide and coach these teen leaders through their work.
For nearly 3 decades Dr. Stout has served on a variety of networks, coalitions, and Boards of Directors at the State, County and Community level for issues surrounding education, troubled youth, substance abuse, gang prevention, violence and related issues. He also brings over 25 years of Positive Youth Development experience to this new advisory role. About this new appointment Dr. Stout said, "In the mid 1990's, I actually served on the Board of Directors for the Countywide Prevention Network when we voted to adopt the 40 Developmental Asset Approach to Positive Youth Development and bring it to OC as the go to approach for working with youth in the County. I've been engaged in this work in one way or another ever since".
