EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Californer -- The triumphant El Segundo Little League team, freshly crowned champions of the 2023 Little League World Series, is set to return home in style on August 28th, thanks to the generous support of Swoop Inc. In a thrilling championship showdown against Curaçao, El Segundo secured California's championship win with a nail-biting 6-5 score. California initially took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held onto it for most of the match. However, Curaçao mounted a remarkable comeback in the fifth inning, tying the game at 5-5 with a grand slam. The decisive moment arrived in the sixth inning when Louis Lappe delivered a walk-off home run, marking his fifth homer of the tournament.

This historic win marks the fifth consecutive tournament victory for an American team in the Little League World Series. The United States now boasts 39 titles, leading the rankings, while California, with its eighth championship win, maintains its status as the most successful state. El Segundo is the first California team to win since Ocean View Little League in 2011.

In a heartwarming display of support, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the LA Dodgers, personally recorded videos before the game to wish the El Segundo Little League team luck in their championship quest.

In celebration of their victory, the El Segundo Little League champions will be greeted with a grand victory caravan through the South Bay community on August 28th. Starting at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street at Imperial Highway, the caravan provided by Swoop will travel to El Segundo Boulevard. Fans are encouraged to join in, bring signs, and wear team colors to show their support.
