Phillip is personally dedicated to making more people aware of the USA's newest Federal Holiday. Further, following his "think globally but act locally philosophy", he strives to encourage his own State (California}, County (San Bernardino) and City (Rancho Cucamonga) to also designate Juneteenth as an official holiday.

More on The Californer
Juneteenth is a long standing celebration of the day that all United States slaves were informed that they have become free US Citizens. It took 2 1/2 years for negros owned in the most western slave state (Texas) to become aware that the Confederate States of America had lost the Civil War. As a result of that delay in communication, 97 year old US Representative, Opel Lee, has called for the World to commemorate our new National Holiday by annually walking a mile for every year that it took for America to become an actual "free country". Therefore, Walker launches his annual Rancho Cucamonga Juneteenth Walk on June 20, 2022.
