CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Californer -- A popular local restaurant, Mangia Italiana, has closed its doors and must liquidate all inventory. The liquidation will take place via an online auction hosted by Cal Auctions, a San Diego-based auction house specializing in online auctions. This online-only auction starts closing on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:37 AM PST.
After being in operation for 14 years, the owner of Mangia Italiana was forced to shut down due to an increase in rent and a decrease in business due to the pandemic. The beloved Italian restaurant has been a staple of Chula Vista dining, and the closure is a major loss for the community.
"This is an unfortunate circumstance," says Jason Hanks, President of Cal Auctions. "Hopefully we can help the business recover some of its losses and move forward from here."
