Legendary Music Icon Suga-T Stevens Announces the Release of her 25th Album to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop

OAKLAND, Calif. - Californer -- Songstress and pioneer hip hop artist Dr. Suga-T Stevens will release her 25^th limited edition double EP, "Heiress I Am, I Am Heiress," this week to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the hip hop music genre.  A portion of the proceeds from the venture will help fund the new Healthy Arts Division for Women In Hip Hop and girl empowerment programs in the HER Museum, an organization founded by Stevens.   The exhibit will include both the music and a presentation by Stevens on issues important to the health and wellbeing of communities, especially women, leaders and girls.  Visit the Museum at 233 Eddy Street, San Francisco.  To book Stevens and a mobile display of the new offering, please call 888-436-0574.

"The music and lyrics on the album are different from what you might usually hear on a hip hop track today," Stevens says.  "I don't use curse words; my message is real; delivery is still hardcore.  Hip hop needs to step it up for the 50^th anniversary.  Negative content is outdated, untasteful and unnecessary for a real lyricist to get their message across."

Stevens is a true hip hop trailblazer, having started her career as a teenager in 1984 to help create a successful record label and group, The Click, along with her brothers E-40 and D-Shot and cousin B- Legit.  She holds a series of gold and multi-platinum credits, has contributed to a variety of hits on the billboard charts and in a collaboration with E-40, recorded "Sprinkle Me," which still reigns as the biggest sister-brother hip hop duo hit ever.

Over the last several years, Stevens has continuously reinvented herself. She now holds several college degrees and is working on her second doctorate, this one in human services.  She is an award-winning businesswoman and CEO of a conglomerate of businesses known as Sprinkle Me Social Enterprise. She is also an author, motivational speaker, mentor, actress and executive director of the Work It Well Project, a nonprofit she founded that serves vulnerable populations and moms of children with autism.

Stevens to be Keynote Speaker at the AME (Art, Music and Entertainment) Institute's          Educators Conference at the Oakland School for the Arts, March 10th.
