Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach City Health Officer Advises Residents to Avoid Consuming Recalled Raw Milk Due to Bird Flu Virus
Long Beach, CA - In light of a recent detection of the H5 bird flu virus in a retail sample, Long Beach City Health Officer Dr. Anissa Davis has issued a warning to residents to avoid consuming voluntarily recalled raw milk. The affected milk may have been sold at various retailers in Los Angeles and could potentially be contaminated with the H5 bird flu virus.
The recall was initiated by The Raw Farm, LLC at the request of the state. The specific product being recalled is cream top, whole raw milk with lot code 20241109 and best by date of 11/27/2024 printed on the packaging. Customers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it and to immediately return any remaining product to the retail point of purchase.
The recall was issued as a precautionary measure and so far, no illnesses related to this recalled milk have been reported. However, the Los Angeles Department of Public Health has identified multiple locations where the product has been sold, including one location in Long Beach: Vitamin City at 6247 E. Spring St.
