Long Beach: City to Host Space Beach Career Fair

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is taking action to support those affected by the recent layoffs at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). In collaboration with the Office of Mayor Rex Richardson, Verdugo Workforce Development Board, Foothill Workforce Development Board, and the California Employment Development Department, the City's Department of Economic Development & Opportunity (EDO) will be hosting a career fair for individuals impacted by the JPL layoffs and Long Beach residents with professional experience or training in the aerospace/space industry.

The Space Beach Career Fair is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network (LBWIN) Adult Career Services Center located at 4811 Airport Plaza Dr. This free event aims to connect participants with meaningful pathways to employment and provide opportunities to meet with hiring representatives from local aerospace/space companies.

Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his pride in hosting this career fair for those affected by the recent JPL layoffs. He emphasized that in Space Beach, there are endless opportunities within the city limits for professionals in the aerospace/space industry. "We want these skilled professionals to know their future in space and aerospace can continue right here at home," said Mayor Richardson.

The event will be offered in two segments, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m., to accommodate strong attendance and ensure all participants have an opportunity to connect with employers. Interested individuals are encouraged to RSVP online and select one segment to attend.

The career fair will not only focus on resources for those impacted by JPL layoffs but also welcome anyone with professional experience or training in the industry. Participating employers include Antares, Apex, Boeing, Coronal Technologies, Ford Motor Company, Heart Aerospace, Hermeus, Long Wall, Millennium Space Systems, Nikon AM Synergy, NuSpace PCX Aerosystems, Orbital Operations, Relativity Space, Rocket Lab, Space Kenetic Corp., Stratolaunch, True Anomaly, Vast and more.

Bo Martinez, Director of EDO, expressed excitement about welcoming talented aerospace and space professionals to explore new opportunities in Long Beach. "The energy and innovation happening in Space Beach are unmatched," said Martinez. "We know these skilled individuals have so much to contribute to the companies that are shaping the future of flight and exploration right here in our city."

This is not the first time the City has hosted a career fair for space and aerospace professionals. In February 2024, the Space Beach Job Fair welcomed approximately 300 attendees seeking connections to meaningful career pathways.
