Long Beach, CA ~ For the second consecutive year, Long Beach Airport (LGB) has been named one of the Best Airports in the United States by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Ranking eighth nationwide, LGB continues to be a favorite among travelers who recognize its convenient Southern California location, exemplary amenities and first-class customer experience.

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his pride in the award, saying "Our Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary this fall, and LGB has a long history of knowing how to provide a first-class experience for travelers."

The award comes as LGB just this year celebrated the unveiling of its consolidated Baggage Claim, and the completion a year prior of a new, modern Ticketing Lobby and Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS). These improvements have made the travel experience smoother from curb to gate as part of a major $122 million Phase II –Terminal Area Improvement Program.

Airport Director Cynthia Guidry said "I believe LGB is the coolest airport in the country, and this achievement is a testament to that and how all of our business partners and staff help ensure Long Beach continues to deliver the best passenger experience."

Currently, air carriers at Long Beach Airport—including Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Hawaiian Airlines—offer service to 24 nonstop destinations around the nation; more than at any other time in LGB's nearly 100-year history. The other airports named in Condé Nast Traveler magazine are available online.
