VALLEJO, Calif. - Californer -- The Honorable Joscelyn Jones, Superior Court Judge of Alameda County, will be honored by District 57 of Toastmasters International for her outstanding contributions to leadership and communication. She will receive the 2025 Communication and Leadership Award during the District 57 Annual Conference on Saturday, May 17, at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California.
The award ceremony will follow the lunch break and will include a special introduction by Michael Notaro, Esq., a keynote address by Judge Jones, and the formal presentation of the award by District 57 Director Sally Philbin.
"Strong communication and leadership are essential to ensuring justice, equity, and community trust," says Judge Jones. "I am humbled by this recognition and grateful to serve the people of Alameda County."
Judge Jones's communication achievements span more than four decades of service in the legal field. Since 2020, she has served as a Superior Court Judge in Alameda County, where she currently presides over the Civil Direct Calendar in Department 19 in Oakland. She also contributes to the next generation of legal professionals as an adjunct instructor in the LLM program at UC Berkeley School of Law.

Earlier in her career, she served as a Deputy Public Defender in Contra Costa County and later established her own private practice focusing on probate, estate planning, and conservatorship. Her judicial service also includes appointments as Judge Pro Tem in both Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. A longtime advocate for senior legal professionals, she served on the Senior Lawyers Task Force of the Contra Costa Bar Association.
"Judge Jones embodies the core values of Toastmasters—empowering others through effective communication and inspiring leadership," says Michael Notaro, Esq., Past International President of Toastmasters International. "Her lifelong commitment to justice, mentorship, and public service makes her an outstanding recipient of this award."
The Communication and Leadership Award is the highest honor a Toastmasters District can bestow upon a non-member. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in communication and leadership and made significant contributions to their communities.
