An Anthology Featuring 45 American Long Haulers Will Be the First of Its Kind
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- Long Hauler Publishing has launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Long COVID Reader. This timely anthology utilizes firsthand storytelling through creative writing to unite the voices of 45 COVID-19 long haulers, representing broad backgrounds and experiences. In a world eager to move beyond COVID-19, the project aims to remind everyone that Long COVID persists. Long Hauler Publishing collectively advocates for better treatments, programs, and vital research.
Author and writer Mary Ladd leads the project. She first experienced Long COVID symptoms in March 2022. "[This book] is the first of its kind," Ladd says, "the first to offer insight into the long hauler slice of life. We need to remind gatekeepers, politicians, researchers and those in power that, no matter what they think or believe, Long COVID has not gone away. There's a huge number of people stuck, suffering, unable to work. They need support." This anthology isn't just a collection of stories, essays, and poems; it's a testament to resilience, strength, and unity in adversity. Donating to the Long Hauler Publishing Kickstarter campaign at this crucial time will aid the team with production and printing costs.
