This groundbreaking story from one of the first people in the US to receive gender reassignment surgery, in 1973, traces her journey from being a young innocent boy in southern California through serving in the Army as a male during the a060s, then fulfilling her quest for the female identity she had always felt within.

In Chapter 4, Arlina recounts a significant experience: "My older friend told me that kissing was how babies were made. All that you had to do was kiss someone, and that is how it all started."
