Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Labor Day approaches on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, the City of Long Beach has announced its plans for facility and service schedules in observance of the holiday. The city has released a list of facilities and services that will be open and closed on this day.
For those looking to enjoy some outdoor activities, all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center) will be open. Additionally, El Dorado East Regional Park will also be open for visitors. Fire stations and lifeguard stations will remain operational for any emergencies that may arise.
Travelers can rest assured that Long Beach Airport will remain open on Labor Day. Animal care services will also continue to operate with their 24/7 emergency services field after-hours line available at (562) 570-7387.
The main police station front desk will be open for any inquiries or assistance needed. Marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina will also be open for business.
In case of any gas or water/sewer emergencies, the Gas Services Dispatch at (562) 570-2140 and Water/Sewer Dispatch at (562) 570-2390 will both be available 24/7.
However, there are some facilities and services that will be closed on Labor Day. These include the Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries, including library offices. Digital resources from the library can still be accessed online 24/7.

Other closures include the BizCare Hotline at (562) 570-4BIZ, Building and Safety services such as inspections and plan reviews, City Hall, City-operated pools, City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Economic Development & Opportunity's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers.
The El Dorado Nature Center is regularly closed on Mondays but will also remain closed on Labor Day. Energy and Environmental Services offices, Fire Headquarters, Support Services, Fire Prevention & Operations, including Marine Safety Administration will also be closed.
The Health Department and Health facilities will not be open on Labor Day. The Homeless Services Outreach Line at (562) 570-4672 will also be closed. Housing Authority, Leeway Sailing Center (closed Sept. 5-7), Long Beach Airport Administration Offices, Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA (regularly closed Mondays and Tuesdays), Long Beach Utilities Offices, Mobile Access Centers, Neighborhood Resource Center, Parks, Recreation and Marine programs and community park facilities will all be closed as well.
Oversized items and special collections pick-ups conducted by the Clean Team will not take place on Labor Day. Refuse and Recycling Administrative Offices will also be closed.

Special Events and Filming Offices will not be operational on Labor Day. Street sweeping services will also not take place on this day but will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Parking enforcement is still in effect on holidays unless otherwise stated on parking signs or meters. Refuse and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on Monday except for oversized items and special collections pick-ups conducted by the Clean Team.
For those who may need towing services or have a lien sale, the Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility located at 3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue will be closed on Labor Day. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sundays and holidays. However, vehicles can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.
Lastly, all Long Beach Public Library locations and services including the main phone line will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 5thand Monday, Sept. 7thas libraries are not open on Sundays per their normal schedule. However, library patrons can still access the library's digital resources, including the catalog, downloads, and databases 24/7.
