LOS ANGELES, June 12, 2024 ~ Los Angeles-based insurance company, Mercury Insurance, has been recognized as one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Mental Wellbeing 2024 by Newsweek and market data research firm Plant-A Insights. This prestigious award, in its inaugural year, only selected 15 non-health-related insurance carriers out of 750 businesses recognized.
Heidi Lopez, Vice President and Chief Human Capital Officer for Mercury Insurance, expressed her gratitude for the recognition stating, "We continue to be humbled and honored by the recognition our employee care and empowerment actions have received." She further added that the company's employees have access to a variety of resources and programs designed to promote positive mental well-being. Lopez emphasized that the Mercury team is a community and they will always strive to provide the best services and tools to support their employees' mental and physical health.
A survey conducted by Lyra among 250 benefits leaders across the U.S revealed that 94% of respondents consider offering mental health benefits as "very important" in attracting prospective employees. Recognizing the importance of mental health as much as physical health, Mercury has made it a priority to provide a range of mental health benefits to its employees. These include counseling services and a comprehensive well-being program called MyHealth at Mercury. The company also offers access to Lyra, which provides mental health care for employees, their spouses, and children up to age 26. Additionally, Lyra Learn offers eLearning on various health topics such as stress management and minding one's mental health.

Another valuable resource available to Mercury employees is ACI Work Life Services. Known for providing employee assistance programs, ACI's Work-Life Services offers in-the-moment counseling through video or telephone sessions as well as in-person sessions. They also provide legal and financial consultations to help ease the stress of day-to-day burdens.
Lopez believes that this award validates their belief that Mercury's success stems from building a team that is both physically and mentally healthy. She stated, "We believe that our employees are the foundation upon which Mercury is built, and their mental health is critically important to happiness and well-being."
To recognize and highlight organizations that prioritize the mental well-being of their employees, Newsweek partnered with Plant-A for the inaugural ranking of America's Greatest Workplaces for Mental Well-Being. This ranking is based on an assessment of public data, feedback from HR executives at companies with more than 1,000 employees, and confidential online surveys of over 250,000 employees.
