LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Acclaimed casting director and emerging filmmaker Paul Sinacore (CSA, Television Academy) will attend the highly anticipated Los Angeles premiere of BABUSHKA on Saturday, June 21 at 10:00 PM at LOOK Dine-In Cinemas in Burbank, as part of the 10th Anniversary Film Invasion Los Angeles (FILA) festival.
Sinacore brings a rare breadth of experience to the screen, having served as Executive Producer, Producer, Casting Director, and Actor on BABUSHKA, while also helping guide the project's creative development. He portrays Jack Parker-Reed, father to Hayley McFarland's character, Annie Parker-Reed. The film marks the debut release from his production company, Five-Tool Player, in partnership with Thorny Devil Productions, founded by producer and actor Taylor Lawrence.
Written and directed by British filmmaker Jon James Smith, BABUSHKA is a 28-minute horror featurette steeped in Slavic folklore and psychological unease. It follows the eerie legacy of a cursed matryoshka doll as trauma ripples through generations of families. Designed as a proof-of-concept, the film lays the groundwork for a larger franchise horrorverse. BABUSHKA had its world premiere at the Oscar-qualifying St. Kilda Film Festival in Australia and recently made its U.S. debut at the Portland Horror Film Festival.

Through his company Paul Sinacore Casting, Sinacore has cast numerous acclaimed and genre-spanning projects, including BABUSHKA, Towpath, Clika, and Eli Roth Presents: The Legion of Exorcists. A respected figure in both independent film and network television circles, Sinacore bridges all five creative pillars — casting, producing, acting, writing, and directing — that define the modern multi-hyphenate.
His upcoming feature Towpath, which he wrote, directed, produced, cast, and stars in as one of seven leads, exemplifies this five-tool approach. The psychological thriller marks his feature directorial debut and has already drawn strong early interest for its atmospheric tone and character-driven storytelling.
In addition, Sinacore will make his major studio debut this summer with Sony Entertainmentand Columbia Pictures' theatrical release of Clika, premiering nationwide on August 15. The film marks his first studio credit as both casting director and actor, signaling a major career milestone.
"I'm proud of what we've built with BABUSHKA," said Sinacore. "It's bold genre storytelling with long-term potential, and I'm excited to share it with the Los Angeles community at FILA."
