THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Californer -- This year, local residents once again have the opportunity to Adopt-A-Musician with the New West Symphony—helping to sustain the cultural arts in Ventura County.
The benefits of adopting a musician include invitations to private rehearsal receptions, access to exclusive events with musicians, special recognition in concert programs, and unique experiences such as sitting on stage with the orchestra during a rehearsal.
As an added benefit this year, those who adopt a musician will receive a ticket to the Symphony's exclusive soiree at the Old Oaks Steakhouse on September 28. Guests will enjoy a gourmet lunch and an electrifying performance by Joachim Horsley, an American pianist, composer, and arranger known for blending classical masterpieces with Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Through his unique fusion, Horsley brings fresh life to classical music while celebrating the vibrancy of Caribbean culture.
The event at Old Oaks Steakhouse is generously sponsored by Albert and Meline Chrikjian. The Chrikjians are long-time Conejo Valley residents and business owners. In addition to opening Old Oaks Steakhouse in late 2024, they have owned Old Oaks Cigar and Wine Company for more than two decades.

"When you adopt a musician, you honor that individual's exceptional talents and dedication to their craft while also helping to sustain our professional orchestra's high standards of excellence," says Natalia Staneva, Chief Executive Officer of the New West Symphony. "This important program connects you with your favorite instrument or tenured musician while making a lasting impact on the cultural arts in your own community."
Staneva notes that funds raised through the Adopt-A-Musician Program are vital in allowing the Symphony to continue its mission of "inspiring passion for music through live performances that attract, engage, educate, and enrich our diverse audiences."
Various adoption levels are available, including opportunities to adopt the concertmaster, assistant concertmaster, principal musicians, and section musicians.
