BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Californer -- Pvilion, a Brooklyn based solar-powered fabric products company, has recently been awarded and recognized for sustainable efforts by The Architecture MasterPrize for outstanding outdoor, sustainable, and overall product design.
Pvilion's Heavy Duty Solar Canopy earned the company two awards: one of which was Product Design of the Year. The canopy also received recognition as a winner for Outdoor Products as well. Additionally, Pvilion's Quad Pole Solar Sail, featured in the New York Botanical Garden, was awarded a winner in Sustainable Products for 2021.
"We were certainly excited when we discovered the winners were announced," says company's CEO Colin Touhey. "We were both confident that the product meets customers' power and shelter needs and flattered to learn that we received three separate awards!"
Pvilion's Heavy Duty Solar Canopy received recognition for its ability to be used for both permanent, and rapidly relocatable modular applications. It allows businesses to use energy sources that are independent from the local electric grid, while eliminating the environmental impact associated with traditional sources of energy, as well as the need to create permanent infrastructure. Moreover, it can do all of this in addition to withstanding extreme weather and power outages as well.

The other winning product, the Quad Pole Solar Sail, allows users a comfortable, shaded space to relax and recharge their mobile devices while taking in the beauty of the gardens. Eight of these structures were installed at the New York Botanical Gardens project as a part of New York City's initiative to reduce emissions. The seven canopies featured in the gardens include eight solar sails that provide ample space for those that stop by. One off-grid structure can charge a bank of batteries that can be used for lighting the area and charging devices.
