~ The Safe Routes to School program has announced the winners of their Spring Walk n' Roll Elementary School Art Banner Contest. Over 30 entries were received from 7 different schools, and the winners have had their artwork printed on 4ft x 8ft banners that are proudly displayed at their respective schools.

The winners of the contest are Amoolya Yathiraj, 4th Grade, Santa Teresa; Annabelle Berg, 4th Grade, Hacienda; Aria Savle, 3rd Grade, Steindorf; Evangeline Hawkins, 1st Grade, Hacienda; Jennifer Chen, Hebe Dou, Mikako Sano, Nora Rehm; 5th Grade, Noddin; Luke Ma, 1st Grade, Noddin; Mia Wong and Naomi Young, 5th Grade, Fammatre; Penelope Ododa, 1st Grade, Trace; Roy Hashimoto ,1st Grade ,Fammatre ; Seoyul Lee ,2nd Grade ,Dilworth ; Shakthi Krovvidi ,4th Grade ,Steindorf ; Sitara Duggina ,Kindergarten ,Santa Teresa.

The purpose of the Safe Routes to School program is to enable and encourage children with disabilities to walk and bicycle to school when possible. This year marks the 28th year that the United States has recognized March as National Disability Awareness Month. It is a time to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities and celebrate their many contributions to the whole community.

The Safe Routes to School program encourages all schools to consider participating in next year's Art Banner Contest.
