STANDSTILL will screen virtually November 14th, 2020 exclusively on Bitpix
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Flyer Films is proud to announce that Standstill, written and directed by Katia Shannon,
will be screening in competition at the Oscar®-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival. The annual festival saw over six-thousand submissions for their "Sweet 16" year and will take place virtually between November 9-15, 2020 on the new streaming platform Bitpix.
Anchored in director Katia Shannon's own life experience as a type 1 diabetic, STANDSTILL exposes the fine thread that people living with diabetes navigate on a daily basis to stay alive. STANDSTILL proposes an impressionistic and visceral portrait of the harrowing isolation that comes with being misunderstood.
''I wanted to challenge myself in conveying these intimate and intense sensations visually.'' said Shannon. ''That's why diabetes is not mentioned explicitly in the film, because when something happens in the real world, you never have the luxury of context. Therefore, the film rests on performance and Victoria Diamond has done a stellar job. She truly carries you into this film.''
