WEST HILLS, Calif. - Californer -- STARS Academy School, a unique K–High School in West Hills, is proud to celebrate three years of providing exceptional arts-integrated education to students. With a focus on integrating arts and academics, STARS Academy offers a transformative learning experience that fosters creativity, confidence, and academic excellence.
"At STARS Academy, we believe in the transformative power of integrating arts and academics," says Shayna Turk, the Head of School at STARS Academy. "We provide a safe and accessible environment where students are encouraged to express their ideas, collaborate, and develop confidence creatively, academically, and socially."
Located in the heart of West Hills, STARS Academy offers a comprehensive and rigorous academic program enriched with a musical theater emphasis. The school's curriculum is designed based on research-based pedagogical approaches, specifically cognitive learning.
An exciting aspect of STARS Academy School's curriculum is the integration of various musicals that span history. For example, students explore American History through the lens of the hit musical Hamilton, studying the events and themes portrayed in the show. In their study of Western Civilization, students engage with the timeless masterpiece Les Miserables, gaining a deeper understanding of the historical context and human struggles depicted. Furthermore, the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat serves as a gateway to studying World Civilization, allowing students to explore diverse cultures and historical periods.

Jenna Rosher, a parent at STARS Academy, shares her experience, saying, "STARS Academy School provides an incredible project-based learning program that focuses on the whole child. Their inspiring and nurturing teachers strike an amazing balance between a stimulating non-conventional academic curriculum and social-emotional learning. It's a true win in terms of the learning model. My kids can't wait to get to school, which was definitely not the case with other schools. I too wish I had gone to a school like this as a child!"
Leslie and Brian Anderson, parents at STARS Academy School, also express their satisfaction, saying, "STARS Academy School has provided an incredible education for our children. The integration of arts and academics has truly transformed their learning experience. Our children are not only gaining a solid academic foundation but also developing confidence, creativity, and a love for learning that will serve them well throughout their lives."
