Berkeley ~ Vast.AI, a leading provider of GPU cloud services for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), has announced its expansion with a new office in San Francisco. The 3,400 sq ft. space, located at 100 First Street in the SOMA district, will serve as a hub for developing a new product and scaling Vast.AI's GPU rental platform.
This move is a significant milestone for Vast.AI, which was originally based in Berkeley and has since grown to be headquartered in Los Angeles. The new San Francisco office, Suite 2250 in the Kilroy Realty building, places Vast.AI in the heart of the city's tech scene. It is situated directly across from Salesforce Tower and adjacent to Salesforce Park, positioning the company at the epicenter of the nation's leading AI talent.
Travis Cannell, COO of Vast.AI, expressed excitement about establishing a presence in San Francisco. "San Francisco remains a global magnet for the brightest minds in artificial intelligence, and establishing a strong presence here is a critical step in our growth trajectory," he said. "This new office will be instrumental in attracting specialized engineering talent to drive our next wave of innovation."

The company plans to have five engineers working at their temporary San Francisco location before officially opening on June 2nd. They aim to grow their Bay Area team to 12 engineers while also expanding their headquarters in Los Angeles which currently has 21 employees.
Cannell also highlighted the benefits of being located in San Francisco's thriving tech ecosystem. "The software engineering environment here with meetups, hackathons and other cultural events is hard to match anywhere else," he said. "Having a footprint in SF gives us access to all of those things happening."
The leasing transaction was represented by CBRE for both parties involved, demonstrating continued institutional interest in San Francisco's commercial real estate market despite ongoing challenges within the sector.
Vast.AI's strategic expansion into San Francisco showcases their commitment to growth and innovation in the AI and ML industry. With a prime location and access to top talent, the company is poised for continued success in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
