MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Californer -- Yvonne Yiu, former Mayor of Monterey Park, successful business leader, and daughter of Hong Kong immigrants, has officially announced her candidacy for California State Treasurer. With decades of financial leadership in both the public and private sectors, Yiu pledges to bring transparency, fiscal discipline, and opportunity to the Treasurer's Office.
"I came to the U.S. as a teen and saw firsthand how hard work and financial education can open doors," said Yiu. "Now I'm running for State Treasurer to safeguard taxpayer dollars, strengthen our economy, and empower California families."
Yiu holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and an MBA in Finance from Loyola Marymount University. She also earned the CRCP designation from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds 10 FINRA securities licenses. Prior to her public service, she managed over $1 billion in assets and launched her own broker-dealer before the age of 40. Her financial career includes leadership roles at Citibank, Charles Schwab, E*Trade, and Merrill Lynch.
