Ukrainian youth visit the USA for relief from a war-torn life

SAN FRANCISCO & WASHINGTON - Californer -- 360 Plus is a California 501c3 organization, providing fully funded international travel opportunities to global high school students who cannot afford to travel and explore the world. Since 2015, except for the Covid years, we have provided opportunities to a total of 150 students from 10 countries to explore other nations. This year we are doing something very different. In August, we will host 10 teenagers (ages 13 to 18) from Kyiv, Ukraine, for a three-week "break from the war" trip to the USA to provide insight into opportunities and life after this war ends.

Many outside Ukraine cannot comprehend what it is to live in a modern city under wartime conditions. Studying by candlelight, facing an uncertain future, and hoping for a safer, better and stable world are real concerns for teenagers, especially now in Ukraine. Indiscriminate bombings force many schools into deep basements which heighten the insecurities of these teenagers.

360 Plus intends to provide these students with hope and a distraction from the difficulties they face at home. They will visit museums, see universities, and meet important National and Bay Area companies and people in a semblance of normal life.  Visit  https://360plus.org/ukraine/

More on The Californer
Founded in 2015 the main focus of 360Plus is to provide leadership development and learning opportunities to students through inclusive educational travel, technology, and cross-cultural collaborations.  Youth from many countries are invited to visit India for several weeks every year and experience life in large towns and small villages.  Currently, we have a simultaneous trip ongoing for eighteen students from five countries visiting India. These include students from Cuba, South Africa, Lebanon and the USA. In the past, even girls from Afghanistan (pre-Taliban) have participated in this program.  360 Plus is supported by the community from a wide array of private and corporate donors who make these trips possible.

Our Ukrainian youth will visit Los Angeles, The Bay Area, Washington DC and New York.  We plan to extend this program as time and funds permit.

"I am glad we can offer these teens hope that life will return to normal at some point," said Sridar Iyengar, one of the founders of 360 Plus. "This tour will provide a welcome distraction from their daily worries and inspire them to continue with their studies."
