AKCP, the world's oldest and largest supplier of networked wired and wireless sensor solutions has implemented RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) authentication protocols on their sensorProbe+ devices.
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. - Californer -- What is RADIUS?
RADIUS is a standardized client-server networking protocol for passing authentication requests to an identity management system. It defines a set of rules that govern the communication between a device (RADIUS client) and a database of users (RADIUS Server). It allows devices from multiple vendors to communicate their authentication credentials to gain access to a network.
RADIUS on AKCP sensorProbe+
AKCP has implemented RADIUS for all sensorProbe+ platforms (SPX+ and SP2+) supporting both IPV4 and IPV6 protocols. You can define a total of 4x authentication and 4x accounting servers. This allows for fallback when the primary server can not be contacted.
RADIUS is also supported on the AKCP securityProbe base units with 2x authentication and 2x accounting servers.

Implementing a RADIUS server is a security measure to ensure your organizations' information remains private. It provides a centralized user access management system with the ability to define unique network permissions on a per-user or group basis. With the addition of RADIUS on the AKCP sensorProbe+ devices, the units can now be authenticated on a secure network making added peace of mind that your environmental monitoring system does not provide a backdoor to your network.
Radius Authentication is an optional licensed feature. Please contact your local dealer for more details.
