ORANGE, Calif., Nov. 20, 2024 ~ As the holiday season approaches, Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® is urging travelers to plan ahead and book their tickets in advance for the Thanksgiving holiday period. With an expected increase in holiday travel, the rail service is advising customers to secure their seats early and consider upgrading to a Business Class ticket for guaranteed seat reservations.
To accommodate the busy travel weekend, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner will be adding additional train cars on some routes. However, customers are still strongly encouraged to plan ahead and book early to ensure availability. This is especially important for those traveling on the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor.
In addition, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner is offering complementary checked baggage between selected staffed stations from Monday, November 25 through Monday, December 2. This will help alleviate some of the stress of traveling during this busy time. A list of stations offering and accepting checked bags can be found on pacificsurfliner.com/holiday.
To avoid overcrowding during the holiday period, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner has suspended its Rail 2 Rail and Metrolink Code Share programs on certain dates. The Rail 2 Rail program will be suspended from November 27 through December 2, while the Metrolink Code Share program will only be suspended on November 27 and December 1.
