AT&T & Digitunity help expand digital access through laptop donation to Open Doors to Future Possi

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Californer -- Open Doors to Future Possibilities (ODTFP), a California nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to providing life-changing services to veterans, their family members, and low-income families, today announced it has received 205 refurbished laptop computers through the Digitunity and AT&T Connected Learning Digital Skills Program. The grant strengthens ODTFP's Digital Literacy Program by providing participants with continued access to technology beyond the classroom. Device refurbishers 2nd Chance Computers and Human-I-T provided the laptops through this grant.

Awarded in April 2026, the grant helps address the digital divide for Bay Area veterans. While ODTFP has provided digital literacy training since 2023, many participants lacked access to a reliable computer once they returned home. Through this grant, participants who complete at least three workshops will receive a laptop of their own, allowing them to continue building their digital skills, apply for jobs, access healthcare and veterans' benefits, connect with loved ones, and safely navigate today's digital world.

Digital literacy classes are offered weekly at ODTFP locations in San Francisco, San Jose, and Mountain View, as well as community partner sites including the San Francisco VA, Palo Alto VA, and El Camino Senior Apartments. Participants receive hands-on instruction in basic computer skills, internet navigation, email, online safety, Microsoft Office, artificial intelligence tools, job searching, and other essential digital skills.

"For someone who lacks access to a reliable computer, taking one home is more than receiving a piece of technology. It is taking home opportunity. It removes barriers to continued learning, job applications, connecting with loved ones, and accessing earned benefits. Most importantly, it builds the confidence and skills needed to navigate today's digital world. Since launching digital literacy classes, ODTFP has helped hundreds of veterans develop practical technology skills that improve independence and open doors to employment, healthcare, education, and financial stability. One participant, a Navy veteran in his forties, came to ODTFP after being unemployed for several years. Without access to a computer, he struggled to compete in today's job market despite wanting to improve his technology skills. After completing three months of digital literacy classes, he developed the skills needed to apply for jobs online and secure a job as a bank teller.

As government services, healthcare systems, and veteran benefits move online, access to both technology and digital skills has become increasingly essential. Through Digitunity and the AT&T Connected Learning Digital Skills Program, ODTFP will help ensure participants leave with the necessary skills and the tools to continue learning, access vital resources, and participate more fully in today's digital world.
