SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Californer -- After 27 years in service, One Circle Foundation (OCF), a Bay Area nonprofit, announces the appointment of a new Executive Director, who, notably, began her journey as a teenage participant in one of the organization's transformative programs.
Moorea Dickason, the recently appointed Executive Director of One Circle Foundation, brings a unique perspective to her role, having spent her formative teen years involved in a Girls Circle facilitated by Co-Founder and former Executive Director Giovanna Taormina. Girls Circle is one of OCF's four impactful Circle programs, each designed with a 6 or 7-step structure to facilitate gender-responsive support groups. In these evidence-based Circles, adolescents engage in discussions and creative activities alongside an adult facilitator, fostering the development of healthy relationships and communication skills. This firsthand experience highlights the depth of commitment and personal connection Moorea brings to her leadership role within the organization, enhancing her ability to drive meaningful change.

In a video released by the organization, Moorea shared about her experience as a teen participant: "I can't say enough about how important and impactful it was that I was in a Girls Circle at that age."
Moorea spent the last 15 years at OCF connecting and working with youth-serving organizations to support their program implementation. Known for its commitment to cultivating a sense of belonging for youth, OCF offers online and in-person facilitator training, program curricula and expert consultation on Circle programs. These resources are utilized by a diverse range of youth service providers who aspire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. Moorea's extensive experience uniquely positions her to lead OCF in its mission to provide these essential tools for those dedicated to youth development.
"Depression rates for teens soared during the pandemic. There's a lot of work to do as a society to ensure that adolescents get the support they need in its wake. Our programs cultivate a sense of belonging and combat isolation and self-doubt, which can have a profound positive impact on the youth who participate in Circle as well as the adults who facilitate them. I look forward to working with a broad coalition of youth-serving organizations and caring individuals to expand our community of trained Circle facilitators around the world," said Moorea.
