Berea BioVentures will be collaborating with Yokohama-based CMPlus Corporation in their efforts to match US and Japanese life science companies with industry experts from both countries.
SAN DIEGO - Californer -- Berea BioVentures, a life science consultancy, announced today that it is collaborating with Yokohama-based CMPlus Corporation, for the launch of their US/Japanese Life Science Matching Initiative Platform (LSMIP). The LSMIP is an initiative conceived and implemented by CMPlus, a leading Japanese life science group that creates value through four main services: GMP engineering; GMDP/QMA Consulting; Training; Business Matching.
US and Japanese life science companies are key drivers of innovation in the global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. However, the processes for product development, manufacturing and commercialization in these two countries are far from homogenous. These differences slow the entry of life science companies from one of these countries to the other. As an experienced US-based commercialization and business development consultancy, Berea has provided assistance to the CMPlus effort to launch the LSMIP, which went live in early August 2019. Berea is also taking part in the ongoing effort as one of the LSMIP 'Trust Network' of consultants.

"For Japanese companies in earlier phases of development, the US marketplace is somewhat of an enigma," said Joachim Osther, Managing Director of Berea BioVentures. "There is a significant unmet need relative to matching these companies with experienced US-based consultants that can help with entry into the US market." Osther also indicated that many smaller US life science companies face similar issues when exploring entry into Japan; as such, the initiative will also extend to US companies interested in the Japanese market, matching them with Japanese subject-matter-experts.
