~ SACRAMENTO - California's economy continues to thrive as the state created 107,100 jobs during the first six months of 2024. This number more than doubles the amount of jobs created during the same time period last year, showcasing the state's strong job growth.
Governor Gavin Newsom announced this news, stating that California has now reached its 50th month of job expansion. In June alone, the state created 22,500 jobs, bringing the total number of jobs created since April 2020 to an impressive 3,122,500. The unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2 percent in June.

Out of the eleven industry sectors in California, seven saw job growth in June. This further solidifies the state's diverse and robust economy.
In addition to job growth, California also boasts impressive numbers in other economic areas. It is home to the most Fortune 500 companies compared to any other state and has reached a record high of $150.4 billion in travel spending. The state is also leading in technology and innovation with 35 of the world's top AI companies located within its borders.
