~ As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the City of Long Beach has released a schedule for its facilities and services for Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, 2024.
On Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, the following facilities will be open: Fire Stations and Lifeguard Station, all City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center), El Dorado Regional Park, Long Beach Airport, Main Police Station Front Desk, Refuse and Recycling Collection (offices will be closed but refuse and recycling will be collected as usual), Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls, and Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls.
The El Dorado Nature Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will resume regular hours on Friday. The Marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina will have special hours from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Several facilities will be closed on both Thanksgiving Day and Friday: Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries including library offices (digital resources available 24/7), BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ), Building and Safety services including the Permit Center, inspections, and plan reviews, City Hall offices including commercial services typically available such as the Permit Center (located on the 2nd floor), Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, Parking Citations.
Street sweeping will not take place or be enforced on Thursday or Friday but will resume its regular schedule on Monday.
Parking violations citywide will still be enforced unless otherwise stated by parking meters that say "Exempt on Holidays."
Trash and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on both days.
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility located at 3111 E Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue, will be closed on both days. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The facility is closed on Sundays and holidays, but vehicles and property can be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.

All Long Beach Public Library locations will be closed on both days, but the main phone line will be open during regular business hours. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's digital resources, including the catalog, downloads, and databases, which are available 24/7.

The City encourages residents to take advantage of online resources for building permit services and bill payments during the holiday closures. Regular operations will resume on Saturday, Nov. 30 for all facilities and services not listed as open or closed for Thanksgiving Day and Friday.
